Herman Joseph Mechler, age 88, of San Antonio, TX, passed away Apr. 24, 2009 in San Antonio. He was born March 5, 1921 in western Bexar County to the late John Henry and Josephine Zinsmeyer Mechler. Herman was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mable Becker Mechler; brother, Henry Lee Allen Mechler; sister, Elsie Mechler Tschirhart; brother-in-law, Alvin Tschirhart; and good friend, Ruby McReynolds. Herman was a farmer and rancher in 3 south Texas counties: western Bexar County, near D'Hanis in Medina County, and near Sabinal in Uvalde County. He was a long time member of the Farm Bureau. Survivors include his beloved daughters, Linda Mechler and Carol Mechler both of San Antonio; sister, Martha Bippert and her husband Harold of Castroville; brother, William Mechler and his wife Agnes of Sabinal; sister-in-law, Mrs. Allen "JoAnn" Mechler of San Antonio; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and good friends. Visitation will be Friday, May 1, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, Castroville. Mass of Resurrection will be Friday, May 1, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. Rosary will be Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment will follow the Rosary at St. Louis Cemetery in Castroville.
