Herman Benhardt Schueling, age 85, of Hondo passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011. He was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Hondo, the son of John Jacob and Wilhelmina Louisa (Koehler) Schueling. He was a heavy equipment operator and owned his own business. Herman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Henry Schueling and Fredrick William Schueling; sister, Wilhelmina "Willie" Pichot; and the mother of his children, Audrey Lanell (Reese) Schueling. Survivors are his sons, Herman L. "Butch" Schueling and wife Doris of Hondo, Thomas Schueling and wife Terry of D'Hanis, and Terry Schueling and wife Barbara of Yancey; daughter, Lana Burk and husband Bill of Yancey; sister, Cecilia Zenner and husband Carl of LaVernia; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Arlene Reese, Zola Schueling and Erna R. Schueling Howard; brother-in-law, Jim A. Reese; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, May 30, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 31, 10 a.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Casket bearers are Gaylon Schueling, Jonathon Schueling, Amy Schueling, Aaron Schueling, Charlie Burk and Sean Burk. Honorary bearers are Shaunna Martinez, Joshua Schueling, DeWayne Reese, Danny Reese and Scotty Sturm. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, D'Hanis.
