Hubert Henry Hermes of Hondo, 96, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018. Born May 27, 1922, in Hondo, he was the son of Henry J. Hermes Jr. and Edith C. Maass Hermes. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 72 years, Bernice Brucks Hermes; brothers, Lloyd, Leroy and Clyde Hermes; and sisters, Violet McGarvin, Lorene Balzen and Leora Dean. He is survived by his son, Larry J. (Dorothy) Hermes of San Antonio; daughter, Marcy (Jim) Pauling of Hondo; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Reimers of Pearland. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 to 10 a.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 10 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, St. John Section. The family suggests memorials may be made to Medina Healthcare Fund or the Medina Senior Center.
