Imogene Schawe Nester, age 84, formerly of Hondo, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, in San Antonio. Born on the Shawe farm east of Knippa on May 14, 1929, she was the youngest child of Walter H. and Bessie Marie (Carle) Schawe. A graduate of Knippa High School, she married Otis Nester in 1949 and they had three daughters. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning vegetables, hunting, fishing, playing bingo, and also plowed fields to help with the farming. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Martin Schawe and Edgar J. Schawe; and sisters, Doris Trees and Beatrice Griffith. Survivors include her daughters, Kathryn Snider of San Antonio, Patsy Nester of Mesquite and Ellen Reinhard of San Antonio; two grandchildren, Steven Reinhard and Shelley Rein-hard; and sisters-in-law, Mrs. E. J. (Mary) Schawe of Uvalde, Charlene Saathoff of Hondo and Ruby McIntire of Georgetown. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 2, 2:00 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, Hondo, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Bearers are Hugo Saathoff, Gary Saathoff, Happy Schawe, Gaylor Trees, Shelley Reinhard and Mark Ney.
