Irene Constante, age 79, of Hondo passed away Jan. 25, 2003. She was born in Hondo, Nov. 8, 1923. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Frances "Kika" and Anastacio Vasquez of Kansas, Cornia and Armando Fuentez, Katerina and Selestino Salazar, Oralia and Joel Correa, and Linda Constante, all of Hondo; sons and daughters-in-law, Jose Luis and Olga of Natalia, Nicanor and Leonor, Trinidad Jr. and Sylvia, Juan and Diana, and Antonio and Rachel Constante, all of Hondo; 36 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Carolina Constante and Margarita Torres; brothers, Juan and Domingo Sanchez, all of Hondo. She was preceded in death by parents, Porfirio and Victoria (Ybarra) Sanchez; first husband, Francisco Constante; brother, Benito Sanchez. Pallbearers were Armando Fuentez, Jr., Gary Salazar, Danny Constante, Eric Constante, Mark Constante, Jose Louis Constante, Jr., Michael Anthony Constante, and Steven Constante. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27 and Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m Tuesday, Jan. 28, with Rev. Jeff Pehl officiating. Both services were at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment followed in Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
