Irene Julianna Aelvoet DeCock went to be with her Lord on Jan. 19, 2014. Irene was born Oct. 28, 1924 in San Antonio. She was a farmer's wife, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. On Aug. 8, 1945 she married Maurice "Shotsie" DeCock at St. John Berchman's Catholic Church. Irene was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Ann's Society for 57 years, Catholic Daughters of America, charter member of the Belgian-American Club, life member of Castro Colonies Heritage Association and a member of Women for Agriculture. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna Claeys Aelvoet; husband, Maurice "Shotsie" DeCock, Sr.; son, David DeCock and brother, Julius Aelvoet. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Linda DeCock, Maurice Jr. and Jenny DeCock, Frank and Kim DeCock; daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Ray Wurzbach, Kathleen and Tom Wurn, Mary and Dean Schneider, Maureen and Phillip Tschirhart; daughter-in-law, Brenda Hoffman; 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Germaine and George DeWinne; brother and sister-in-law, Rene and Rosie Aelvoet; sister-in-law, Genevieve Aelvoet; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. The Rosary will be recited on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment will follow the Rosary at St. Louis Catholic Garden Mausoleum.
