Irene was a member of Bethesda Christian Church in San Antonio for 43 years. She was very active, working in the nursery, and loved to attend the Bible Studies and conventions. At one point she accompanied a missionary on a trip to Belize. She especially enjoyed the preaching of Rev. J. F. Foster and singing by him and his wife Marguerite. Her favorite song was "Then I Met the Master." She attended schools in Hondo and then Harlandale High School in San Antonio. On November 24, 1938, she and Oscar Joseph Louis Wernette were married. This union was to last 21 years and was blessed with five children, Barbara, Kenneth "Buddy", Marilyn, Gary and Wayne. Irene had many interests and was very talented. Loving to sew, she studied dress design and received a certificate in Dressmaking in 1962. Her hobbies included music, gardening, baking, and writing poems and short stories about animals, birds and family. She loved to dance and to listen to her Dad play his "Golden Fiddle" as her brother played guitar and sang. Mama (Grandma Net to her grandchildren) loved her Lord, her family, and her home. Always a peacemaker and compassionate, she loved children and the "down trodden." She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Barbara Ann Davis; brother, Preston Floyd Moebius; and infant grandson, Dwayne Everitt Wernette.
