Jackie Lynn
Knight Decker Krueger
August 7, 1929 – November 20, 2020
On November 20, 2020, the Lord took home an Angel, Jackie Lynn Knight Decker Krueger, at the age of 91. Jackie was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and friend. She was strong minded, strong willed, and a survivor which was witnessed through her faith, strength, and endurance through many challenges in her life. Watching their suffering and then losing her husband and then one of her sons as they battled cancer proved this about her. She faced every challenge in her life head on, developing an unwavering faith. She wore a smile on her face at all times and never met a stranger as any angel would do. She is truly heaven bound.
Jackie was born to Rodney "Jack" Everett and Margie Gray Knight on August 7, 1929 in Uvalde, Texas. She met Jerome H. Decker, her future husband, at a dance at the Silver Spur Dance Hall in Bandera, Texas. Jerome and Jackie were married on February 1, 1949, in Uvalde, Texas. The couple enjoyed traveling and dancing. Some of their closest friends joined them on trips, lake adventures and dancing. On April 18, 1950, she gave birth to their first child, Joseph "Joey" Halbert Decker, Sr. Then on August 3, 1955, she gave birth to their second son, Kirk Knight Decker.
Jackie was a "true" homemaker. She was known for King Ranch chicken casserole and all her baking, providing great meals for her beloved family.
One of her favorite passions was dancing. She would dance around the house when no one was there to dance with her. Water was another passion of hers. She was a very accomplished water skier and skied through her 50s. Wherever there was water Jackie was anxious to go. She loved the lake and the beach. She was an avid traveler going on many cruises, trips to Europe, and Mexico. She was always ready to test her luck at gambling also. She loved people and they loved her. She "adopted" many of her children's friends.
Jackie lost her husband, Jerome, on March 20, 1995, and later met Edmund Krueger, Jr. at a dance. He had the same passion for dancing and traveling as she did. They were married on November 28, 2006. They enjoyed life to the fullest, continually going on trips, cruises, and most importantly going dancing.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerome; her son, Kirk; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Decker; brother, Jack Everett Knight; and brother-in-law, Milton "Fuzzy" Renken.
She is survived by her son, Joey Decker of Hondo; husband, Edmund "Junie" Krueger, Jr.; grandchildren, Joseph H. "J.R." Decker (Becky), Joshua "Josh" Decker (Candace), Chance Decker (Lauren), Adam Decker, Kyle Decker; daughter-in-law, Robyn Decker Tondre; five great-grandchildren; sister, June Knight Collins; sisters-in-law, Doris Knight and Mary "Ecey" Renken; stepdaughters, Chere Krueger Yecker (David); Joyce Krueger Helmle (Sam); stepson, Arlen Krueger (Katrine); step grandchildren, Brady Yecker, Paige Yecker Calame (William), Shawna Helmle Baker (Ethan), Shavawn Helmle Everet and husband; Delaney Krueger, Jenna Krueger; many step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 27, 2020, at the Hondo Oakwood Cemetery in Hondo. Rev. Beverly Kelling will be officiating the service.
The family requests memorials be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
