Jacqueline 'Jackie'
Curtis Stoner
September 19, 1961 – September 3, 2023
Jacqueline "Jackie" Curtis Stoner went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2023, at the age of 61. She was born in Dilley, Texas, on September 19, 1961, to Jack Delbert and Charlotte Stricker Curtis. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, caring sister, and faithful friend to many. Jackie lived fiercely and loved fiercely; her friends called her a force of nature.
Jackie met the love of her life, Thomas Overton Stoner, and they were married on June 1, 1985. Their union was blessed for 38 years. Those who knew Jackie and Tom knew that their life revolved around their family and faith. Jackie was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, where she served the Lord through her gifts, service, and presence.
She began her career working for Frost National Bank from 1984-1993, where she was corporate support for the Loan Department. Soon after her children were born, Jackie began her teaching career in Cotulla, where she taught fifth grade. After a year in Cotulla, they moved back to Hondo, where she taught first grade for six years, ultimately leading to a diagnostic position for the next 18 years. Her impact on children will be felt for years to come.
Her infectious laughter, quick wit, and sense of adventure brought so much joy to all. She cherished her family and never missed an opportunity to support her boys, always their biggest cheerleader. Her zest for life entertained us all, and her absence will be felt immensely. Jackie leaves behind her beloved family, a close group of friends, and countless others.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Overton Stoner; children, Curtis Clinton Stoner (Jade) of Fort Worth, Chandler Thomas Stoner (Margaret Bien) of Fort Worth, and Carson Michael Stoner (Xilonen Vasquez) of San Antonio, sister Cheryl Curtis Stroud (Billy), brother Jack Delbert Curtis, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 7, 6 to 8 p.m., at Hondo Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be Friday, Sept 8, 11:00 a.m., at Hondo Methodist Church, followed by interment at 2:30 p.m. at Cotulla West Cemetery, FM 468, 0.4 mi. SE of IH35, in Cotulla.
While flowers are welcome, the family would appreciate memorials to Hondo Methodist Church in celebration of Jackie's life.
Always believe in angels. She has spread her wings and will be our angel forever.
