James "Jimmy" Escamilla of D'Hanis, Texas, passed away February 24, 2006, at the age of 52, in San Antonio. He was born August 27, 1953, in Hondo, the son of Manuel Escamilla & Augustina (Ureste) Escamilla. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Elvira Palomo, Jacinta Ramirez; brothers-in-law Johnnie "Red" Sittre, Oswald Nira; nephew David Palomo. Jimmy is survived by his sons Jim Escamilla and wife Christavale of Dunlay, Alvin Escamilla and wife Michelle of Hondo; daughter Kathy Escamilla and husband Nick Santillano of Hondo; grandchildren Javier Escamilla, Sabrina Escamilla, D.J. Escamilla, Jonathan Santillano, Victoria Rae Santillano; sisters Paula "Connie" Sanchez of Hondo, Janie Harms of Dickinson, Inez Lupe Nira of Austin, Rosa Sittre of Hondo, Mary Dominguez of Ogden, UT, Celestina Gonzalez of Hondo; brother John J. Escamilla of San Antonio. The Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home and the Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr Jeff Pehl, will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday March 2, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. The pallbearers were Paul Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Gus Gomez, Ernie Escamilla, Andy Trinidad, John Torres. Interment will follow in the Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
