James Glendon "Shotgun" Hunter, age 82, of Hondo passed away Friday, April 9, 2010. Born Dec. 31, 1927, in Groesbeck, Texas, he was the son of Lemuel Franklin and Donnie Edras (Welch) Hunter. He was general manager of Yellow Cab Taxi and Armored Car Co. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Hank Kohutek and Curtis Walden. He is survived by his wife, Jesselyn Iris (Ritchie) Hunter; daughter, Iris Lynn Schuh and husband Chester of LaCoste; sons, Montie Franklin Hunter and wife Becky of Big Foot, Ellis Ritchie Hunter of Dallas, and Lawrence Luther Hunter and wife Nancy of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother, Monte Franklin Hunter and wife Myrtle of Eagle Lake; and sisters, Marjorie Kohutek of Canyon Lake, Alta Walden of Houston, Anita Mack and husband James of Victoria, and Shirley Fewell and husband Bob of Groesbeck. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Andy Tyson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
