James Henry "Jim" Young, age 87, of rural Sabinal passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012. Born in Barnsdall, OK, on Feb. 4, 1924, he was the son of Ralph Carson Young and Juanita (Johnson) Young, who preceded him in death. Also preceding was his wife, Betty (Clark) Young. Jim served as a P-47 Thunderbolt pilot with the 347th Fighter Squadron, U. S. Army Air Corps in WWII. He was in real estate sales and had served as city councilman and mayor pro-tem of Corpus Christi from 1960 to 1968. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Figg and husband Todd of rural Sabinal; granddaughters, Katy Davis Azanza and husband Jesus of Austin and Mary Helen Figg of San Marcos. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, at Sabinal Methodist Church. Preceding the service, a lunch reception will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the fellowship hall.
