Jay E. Muennink of New Fountain, age 81, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007. Jay E. was born on Feb.17, 1926, at the family home in New Fountain, the son of John Emil and Mary Helen (Mumme) Muennink. He and Marie Lindeburg were married April 4, 1947, at New Fountain United Methodist Church. After her death in 1996, he married Nina (Bonds) Chance on June 26, 1998, also at New Fountain UMC, where he remained a member until his death. A lifetime farmer/rancher, he loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, running the family farm, and raising cattle, goats and catfish. He was a member of the Medina County Cattlemen's Association. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; brother, Marion John Muennink; brothers-in-law, Clyde Jackson and Elton Lindeburg; niece, Dorothy (Muennink) Beard; and infant nephew, Billy Ray Lindeburg.. Jay E. is survived by his wife, Nina; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Danny Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Karen Muennink, all of New Fountain; five grandchildren, Jason and wife Tommie Brown, Dalaine Brown, Jared and Emmett Muennink; great-grandson, Hunter Brown; stepsons, Robert Chance and wife Gina of Odessa, Michael Chance and wife Cathy of Jal, NM, Patrick Chance and wife Rebecca of Mesquite; step-grandsons and their wives, Brandon and Meredith Chance, Kevin and Jamie Chance, Aaron, Andrea, Samantha, Chris, Misty, and Caleb Chance; sisters-in-law, Irene Muennink and Mabel Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Visitation was Monday and the funeral service was Tuesday, Dec. 18, 10 a.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Casket bearers were Darrell Sandidge, Brett Beard, Todd Sandidge, Buddy Sandidge, Lindy Mechler and Russell R. Rowell. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
