Jennymae Shane, age 86, passed away Oct. 13, 2009. JJen was a long-time resident and former City Secretary of Sabinal. After retiring, she volunteered at the Sabinal Library. She had been a resident at Community Care Center in Hondo for the last few years. She was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada, to Elva and Conrad Ulrich. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis H. Shane; infant son, Joseph; her parents; and her brothers, Robert and Frank Ulrich. Jen is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Leora "Lee" and Ronald "Rip" McRae of Barry's Bay, Ontario, Canada; sister-in-law, Maurine Shane of San Antonio; special friends, Billie and Joe Boyd of Sabinal; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Shane-Deckert Cemetery in D'Hanis. Casket bearers were Kristopher Lay, James Lay, Ralph Shane, Robert Lay, Lewis Steubing and Larry Steubing. Memorials may be made to the Sabinal Library or the charity of one's choice.
