Obituary

Jerrilyn Dawn Grell, a beloved wife, mom, mema & sister went to be with our Lord and Savior, on May 27, 2005 at the age of 65. She was born in Kempner, TX on Feb. 7, 1940. She was very active with Girl Scouts of San Antonio. Among her volunteer work, she directed Camp Mira Sol in Waring, Texas and was behind the scenes of many Girl Scout activities, especially cookie sales. Her many hobbies included crafts, sewing, gardening, bowling, looking for antiques and shopping with her daughters & daughter-in-law. She was a model of the golden rule, always giving of herself and never expecting anything in return. She was always able to "fix" anything, from a scrape or a tear to a wounded heart. She loved her six grandchildren, even her daughter's horse, with all her heart. She enjoyed her daily routine of cooking, watering her plants, as well as feeding, talking to and holding her many cats. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan. She said that if she could do it all over again, she wouldn't change a thing. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeraldine McClement and father Howard Gotcher. Survivors included her husband of 43 years, Kenneth Grell; two daughters Kim Freehauf and husband Mike, and their children Kyle, Colby, and Taylor. Kristi Albin and husband Ken. A son, Kirk Grell and wife Vicki, and their children Sarah, Rebekah, and Isaac. She is also survived by her sister Judy Walker, husband Dwight and three children; Matt Eilers, wife Marcella and son Bruce, Shelly Vennerbeck, husband Steve and children Clarrissa, Clarke and Cassandra, and Tim Eilers, wife Juanita; step mother Lil and brother Mark Gotcher. Pallbearers are Ken Albin, Matt and Tim Eilers, Robbie Freehauf, Andrew and Ronnie Muennink. The visitation is scheduled from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday May 29 at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. The Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Monday May 30 at the New Fountain United Methodist Church with burial in the Hondo Cemetery.
