Jesus M. Sanchez of Hondo passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, with his family by his side.  He was 70.

Born July 20, 1952, in Hondo, Jesus was a son of Donicio and Refugia Oranday Sanchez.

At an early age, he became known as La Fletcha and that  nickname stayed with him all his life. Anyone who knew him will remember how crazy and funny he was. A mechanic by trade, Jesus enjoyed riding motorcycles.

Jesus loved his children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed telling his grandkids stories of "the old days". He also had a special place in his heart for his dog King and cat Jr.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia Zapata Sanchez; an infant son, Jesse Jr.; and brothers, Jacinto, Pasqual and Ramon.

He is survived by his sons, Jesus Sanchez and Ricky Sanchez (Mary Jane), all of Hondo; daughter, Mary Zulaica (Albert) of Devine; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Jose Sanchez; and sister, Petra Garza, both of Hondo.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, with Rosary recited at 3 p.m.,  at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Service will conclude following the Rosary.
