Jimmy Dale Beavers Sr. of Hondo/Quihi passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016. He was 73. Born Jan. 29, 1943, in Elgin, he was the son of William C. Beavers Sr. and Lola Bell Brown Beavers. Jimmy graduated from Edison High School in 1960. He joined the Navy but, due to leg issues, he was medically discharged from boot camp. He went to work for RC Cola as a dock foreman/delivery driver. He was also a long haul truck driver for over 15 years. Then he started a professional landscape and lawn service. In 1992 he sold that business and decided to retire. He and Jeanie bought a textile screen printing business then went into arts and crafts. His hobbies were fishing, taking cruises, attending NASCAR races and taking long motorcycle rides with his friends. He was a lifer with the Gypsy Motorcycle Club. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, William C. Beavers Jr. Survivors are his wife, Elmira Jean "Jeanie" Sprott Beavers; son, Jimmy D. (Joanie) Beavers Jr., all of Hondo; grandchildren, Chris van der Weide, Mark (Jen) Priest, Anthony Dybowski and Amanda Dybowski; and great-grandson, Faron Priest, all of San Antonio. A Celebration of Life/Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 30, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
