JoAnn Tapia of D'Hanis passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020. She was 53.

Born in San Antonio, Aug. 7, 1966, she was the daughter of Eusebio G. Tapia and Angelita Mejia Tapia.

JoAnn retired from Lackland Air Force Base Civil Service as housekeeping supervisor after 27 years. She had an outgoing personality, was very loving and family-oriented, and she had a beautiful smile that could light up a room. She loved traveling and spending time outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her father; her daughter, Joshlyn Tapia; and brother, Ysidro Casares.

Survivors include her mother, Angelita Tapia; son, Richard Tapia; granddaughter, Harley Faith Tapia; godson, Eusebio Tapia; siblings, Rosario Elizondo, Angelita Sauceda (Victor), Mary Lira, Joe Anthony Tapia, Robert Tapia and Ernest Tapia (Anna), all of D'Hanis, Ruben Campos (Pam) of Missouri, Manuela Martinez of Dallas, Debra Tapia of Florida, and Stella Alejandro (Aniceto) of Sabinal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday July 27, 5 to 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel, with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m.
