Please help us honor and celebrate the life of Joanne Mary Harper. She was one of the most sincerely altruistic women to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her as our matriarch.

Joanne never met a stranger and would bring that kindness to every aspect of her life. She wore many hats throughout her lifetime from daughter to cheerleader, barrel racer, US Army veteran, wife, mother and grandmother.

She was born January 25, 1958, in McGregor, Minnesota, to Nello and Betty Carmichael. She graduated there from high school and remained until her departure for the US Army in 1976, where she would serve three years. While stationed in San Antonio, she would ultimately meet Gale Harper, who became her husband of nearly 45 years. After her honorable discharge, she obtained a degree in nursing and practiced as an LVN. They would have four children together who blessed them with four grandchildren.

She loved many things in life: her cats, gardening, baking, decorating, sewing, singing, playing guitar and being a veteran, but, most of all, her family.

She is preceded in death by her father Nello, mother Betty, and brother Ronald.

Surviving are her husband Gale;  daughters, Amy and Cindy (Dustin), sons, Billy (Amy) and Cory; granddaughter, Brianna; grandsons, Jaden, Dominic and Bennett; brother, Richard (Diane); and sister, Diane (Bob).

Joanne Mary Carmichael Harper of Quihi/Hondo, age 65, passed away Friday, Sept. 15, 2023.

Visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. with a memorial service  at 3:00 p.m., will be on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Guinn-Horger Chapel.
