Batot
March 4, 1946 – December 18, 2019
John L. Batot of Hondo passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019. He was 73.
Born Mar. 4, 1946, in Carrizo Springs, he was the son of Arnold John and Maurine Walker Batot.
John married the love of his life, Barbara, in 1963 and they had been married 56 years at the time of his death. John worked for Sears and Roebuck for 35 years before retiring to the family farm in 2006. It was his life-long dream to live and work on the farm with Barbara by his side. During his retired years, he enjoyed working cattle, the land, and spending time with his family.
John was known as Johnny, Dad, Daddy, Pops, and friend to many. He was a kind man with a big heart and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, John Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Spencer Batot; sons, John L. (Linda) Batot Jr. of Seguin and Michael Todd (Roxann) Batot of Bellville; daughter, Pamela Ann Phillips of Bellville; grandchildren, Ashlyn and John Michael Batot, Amy (R.J.) Strauch, Chad Gann, Aaron (Katie) Batot, McKaylie (Nolan) Cornelius and Lacy Phillips; great-grandchildren, Cademon, Colter, Cohen and Carlynn Strauch, Marlee and August Gann, Bailey, Allie, Weston and Maci Batot. He is also survived by his sisters, Patsy Jackson of Jourdanton and Jean (Harvey) Lansford of Fredericksburg.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 20, 5 to 8 p.m., and funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, at Guinn-Horger Chapel, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, St. John's Section.
Pallbearers were Aaron Batot, John Michael Batot, John Jackson Jr., Jeff Jackson, Harvey Landsford, Brad Landsford, Colby McManus and Weston James Batot.
