John Alan Dale passed away quietly Monday, July 3, 2023, at his home in D'Hanis surrounded by family. He was 74.

Born June 5, 1949, in Hondo, he was the son of Arthur Twitchell Dale and Thelma Ozell Bilhartz Dale.

John graduated from Hondo High School in 1967. He then attended Texas A&I Kingsville University and graduated in 1971. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years and worked as an auditor for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission for forty years. He married his wife, Denise, on July 5, 1975.

John loed spending time with his family and friends, always cooking for them and keeping them laughing. He enjoyed traveling to National Parks and always looked forward to attending his granddaughter's sporting events and recitals. He had a love for old cars, motorcycles, and Willie Nelson music. He spent many hours on his ranch tending to the cows, bottle feeding baby goats, and growing a beautiful garden. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and Grandad and will be missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents; fathers-in-law: Homer Floerke and Jim Beck; brother, James David Dale; and brothers-in-law, Mark and Kent Floerke.He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Denise Floerke Dale; son, Eric Dale, daughter, Beth (Jeff) Tondre; grandchildren, Kinsley and Kylie Tondre; brother, A. T. (Patti) Dale; sisters, Gaynelle (B. G.) Sutherland and Deborah (Milton) Brown. Also, mother-in-law, Emily Beck; brother-in-law, George Floerke; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Floerke, Mary Bernal and Lois "Jo" Floerke.

Rosary and Funeral Mass were held Saturday, July 8, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
