John Herman Fohn, age 62, of D'Hanis, passed away Monday, Feb. 2, 2009. He was born Sept. 10, 1946, in Hondo, the only son of Herman Nicholas Fohn and Irene Pauline (Poerner) Fohn. He is preceded in death by his father, and his wife, Virginia Myrle (Brotherton) Fohn, who passed away in January 2008. He is survived by his mother, Irene Fohn; son, Richard Herman Fohn, D'Hanis, of the US Marine Corps; daughter, Mary Dorothy Paxton and husband Christopher of Abilene; sisters, Mary Bendele and husband Kenneth of Hondo, Anne Sowa and husband Joe of D'Hanis, Dorothy Attaway and husband Tom of D'Hanis, and Madelyn Wilson and husband Tommy of Yancey; and many nieces and nephews. Rosary was recited Saturday, Feb. 7, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Fr. Wallis J. Stiles officiated. Pallbearers were Larry Huesser, John Bendele, Ray Wolff, Brandon Bendele, Philip Rothe, Kris Benke, Paul Myers and Richard Santos. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, D'Hanis.
