John "Hans" Walch, age 91, of Quihi passed away Tuesday, Mar. 27, 2007. He was born in Fredericksburg, Aug. 18, 1925, one of 14 children of Elisa (Ahrens) and Eugene Walch Sr. He was a farmer all his life. Hans is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene Mae (Boehle) Walch in 1991; brothers, Alfred, Arthur, Conrad, Chester, Eugene Jr., Henry, Felix, Benno and Richard; and sisters, Sophie Weise, Louise Leisman, Toni Nietenhoefer, and Minnie Eckhart. He is survived by nieces and nephews, including Mary Nietenhoefer Beyer of rural Hondo and Jimmy Walch of Quihi and San Antonio. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 29, at Quihi Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers are Curtis Boehme, Nelson Boehme, Wayne Walch, Jimmy Walch, Bobby Muschalek, and Melvin Dittmar.
