Jose M. Briseño, Jr., age 86, of Hondo passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2010. He was born in Comfort on Sept. 12, 1923, to Jose Maria Briseño Sr. and Lucia (Zuniga) Briseño. He was a maintainer operator for Medina County. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anita (Urrutia) Briseño; sons, Louis Briseño and Jesus M. Briseño; granddaughter, Delia Briseño; brothers, Felix, Rafael, Lucio, and Juan Briseño; and sisters, Louisa Rangel and Pabla Duran. He is survived by his son, Jose M. Briseño III of Hondo; daughters, Margarita Gomez and Diamantina Chacon and husband Richard, all of San Antonio; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Pallbearers are Ernesto Cortez, Steve Frausto, Isaac Lopez, Everisto Bermea, Joe Correa, and Frankie Bermea. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
