Jose T. Sanchez, age 74, of Yancey passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010. He was born Oct. 2, 1935, in Hondo, the son of Santiago and Ysidra (Tambunga) Sanchez. He was a custodian with the Hondo Independent School District. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pauline S. Garza; and brother, Valeriano Sanchez. He is survived by his wife, Martha (Moncada) Sanchez; son, Adrian Moncada and wife Alma, all of Yancey; brother, Santiago "Jimmy" Sanchez of San Antonio; and grandchildren, Gabriel and Sonia of Yancey. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Guinn-Horger Chapel, with Pastor Mike Lopez of Faith Community Church officiating. Pallbearers were Juan C. Moncada, Gabriel Lopez, Alvin Guerra, Pedro Gonzales, Jerry Moncada, and Gabriel Flores. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
