Jose V. "Bebe" Velasquez, age 84, of Elgin, Ilinois, and formerly of Hondo, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2014. Born April 19, 1930, in Hondo, he was the son of Jose Jr. and Gregoria Vasquez Velasquez. He was a tool and die manufacturing set-up man. Jose was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Simon Velasquez; and sister, Porfiria Garcia. Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Socorro Cantu Velasquez; son, Jose Luis (Lorena) Velasquez; grandchildren, Luis D. and Mia L. Velasquez, all of Elgin, IL; and sisters, Carmen Ybarra and Luz Ytuarte, both of Hondo. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
