José Romeo Ybarra

José Romeo “Joe” Ybarra, 70, of Hondo, TX, passed away on April 30th, 2026. He was born in Hondo on May 14th, 1955.

Joe spent most of his adult life as a tradesman in various fields, and excelled at any job he encountered.

He had a love for dancing, friends and family. If you needed help or just a listening ear, Joe was that guy, and he will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering loyalty, and ability to bring warmth and laughter into any room. He had a spirit that resonated deeply with family and friends, and his memory will live on through the countless moments shared with him.

He is survived by his children, Melissa Reyes Swenson (Daniel), Jessica Reyes Arellano, Josephine Herrera "Casildo Cortez", Phillip Herrera, and Maria Lydia Cantu, twenty-four grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three sisters, and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Joe’s impact will not be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A service to celebrate Joe’s life is being planned.
