Jose Angel Ytuarte Jr., age 86, born Sept. 13, 1926, passed on to be with the Lord on Mar. 24, 2013, at his residence in Hondo, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Hondo, he lived his entire life here. Mr. Ytuarte served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He returned to Hondo and worked at Universal Rundle for 39 years until he retired. He was also a proud owner of the Pearl Bar. He met his future wife, Luz Velasquez, in Hondo. They were married on July 15, 1946, and shared 66 glorious years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Angel Sr. and Concepcion Ytuarte; daughter, Sylvia Dolores Ytuarte; brothers, Raul, Alfredo, Rodolfo, and Eduardo Ytuarte; and sister, Dora Ytuarte Quiroz. He is survived by his wife, Luz Velasquez Ytuarte; daughters, Elida Santillano and husband, Gumecindo; Sylvia Morales and husband Johnnie Sr., and Mary E. Villa; son, Jose Angel "Joey" Ytuarte III and wife Elizabeth; sister-in-law, Elsa Ytuarte and Carmen Ybarra; brother-in-law, Jose Velasquez and wife Socorro; 13 grandchildren, Melinda Santillano, Anthony Santillano and wife Courtney, Marissa Greer and husband Ben, Johnnie Morales Jr., Celeste Morales, Valerie Gonzales and husband Paul, Ramon "Monzie" Villa, Jason Villa, and Joshua, Jonah, Abigail, Jose IV and Hannah Ytuarte.; 10 great-grandchildren; Stephanie and Jackie Benites, Tony Ybarra, Lauren Flores, Chelsea and Ashlee Gonzales, Stephen and Sean Greer. Henlie Jay Morales, Olivia Luz Santillano; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 27, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section. Pallbearers are Johnnie Morales Jr., Ramon "Monzie" Villa, Anthony Santillano, Jason Villa, Jonah Ytuarte, Jose A. Ytuarte IV, and honorary pallbearer is Tony Ybarra.
