Jose Louis Ytuarte Sr. of Hondo, 59, passed away Thursday, Feb, 1, 2018. Born May 1, 1958, in Hondo, he was the son of Eduardo Diego and Elsa Enriquez Ytuarte. Known to his friends by many names: Mosca, Slick, El Fly, and to some as Texas, Joe Louie was a legend in the billard community. One of only two people from Hondo to have played in nationals in Las Vegas, he was also city champion in San Antonio. Everyone who plays pool in the surrounding area knew him. He is preceded in death by his father; his brother, Eugene Ytuarte; and brothers-in-law, Roy Cruz and Henry Robles. He is survived by his mother; his wife, Roxanne Gonzales Ytuarte; children, Trisha M. Ytuarte of San Antonio, Jose Louis Ytuarte Jr., Derek (Rachel Espinosa) Ytuarte, Christopher Aguirre, Samantha Jo Ytuarte, Alexis Ytuarte, Francisco Louis Ytuarte and Joseph Ytuarte, all of Hondo; 17 grandchildren; and siblings, Roy (Eleanor) Ytuarte of Hondo, Elsa Cruz of San Antonio, Jose Alfonso (Theresa) Ytuarte, Erlinda Robles, Connie (Danny) Enriquez, Maria Estella (Joe) Piña, Jose Alfredo (Ruth) Ytuarte, Raul (Sherri) Ytuarte, all of Hondo, Jerry Ytuarte of Dallas, Thelma (Jim) Deese of Kerrville, Jose Armando (Lupe) Ytuarte of Harper, David Ytuarte Sr. and Eduardo Ytuarte Jr., both of Santa Fe, NM. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 7, 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section.
