Joyce Irene Koehler Eckhart, age 81, of Hondo passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013. Born Aug. 8, 1932, in Atascosa, she was the daughter of Arthur A. and Jessie (McCoy) Koehler. Joyce was secretary/bookkeeper for Hondo ISD for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harley D. "Dooley" Eckhart. She is survived by her son, Harley A. Eckhart of Austin; daughter, Cythia Ann Rauwerdink and husband Jim; grandson, Travis Rauwerdink, all of Grabill, IN; brothers, Raymond G. Koehler and Arthur A. Koehler Jr., both of Atascosa. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 4, 5 to 8 p.m., at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. Pallbearers are Jim Rauwerdink, Travis Rauwerdink, Frank Winkler, Walt Bendele, Howard Billings and Ronnie Eckhart. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Medina Healthcare Fund.
