Juan G. Barrientes of Hondo, 73, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016. Born Dec. 29, 1942, in Hondo, he was the son of Ramon E. and Timotea "Tima" Granado Barrientes. He worked at Universal Rundle for 36 years. Upon retirement, he created JB Barbecue, which he leaves behind as his legacy. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arturo Barrientes; and sister, Olga Barrientes. He is survived by his wife, Manuela Ybarra Barrientes; daughters, Vangie (Ray) Zegles of Austin and Margie (Michael) Ibarra of Hondo; son, Juan (Vanessa) Barrientes Jr. of San Antonio; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother, Carlos (Carmen) Barrientes; and sister, Lupe (Pedro) Martinez and Elsa Hernandez, all of Hondo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7 p.m., Monday, June 20, at the Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
