Juan Nira Hernandez, age 80, of Hondo, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, in San Antonio surrounded by his loving family.  Born Dec. 3, 1944, in Hondo, he was the son of Valente and Francisca Nira Hernandez.

Juan was a well-known truck driver and was nicknamed "El Jodi"  by his close friends.  Most of all, he was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather who was always willing to help his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Armando Hernandez; and sister, Carmen Hernandez.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jesusa Gonzales Hernandez; daughter, Deborah Garcia of San Antonio; sons, Andrew Hernandez (Lynette) of Hondo and Kenneth Hernandez (Jennifer) of San Antonio; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Arturo Hernandez.
