Juan Luis Sanchez, age 78, of Hondo passed away Monday, July 6, 2015. Born August 29, 1936 in Hondo, he was the son of Luis Garza Sanchez and Julia Reyes Sanchez. He was a loving man and an extremely successful self-made man. He cared for his family and pioneered many firsts throughout his working and entrepreneurial life. He will be remembered most for providing for his wife, sons and daughters. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lupe Sanchez; and an infant brother, Fidencio. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Amelia Barrios Sanchez; sons, Rene (Zelda) Sanchez of Yancey, Jaime Sanchez of Moore, Luis (Lilia) Sanchez of San Antonio; daughters, Mercedes (Robert Butler) Sanchez of Austin and Dahlia (Sam) Hurst of San Antonio; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Estefana R. Sanchez, and brother, Simon R. (Gloria) Sanchez, all of Hondo. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, July 8, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 9, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery, Guadalupe Section. Pallbearers are Benjamine Bernal, Bernardo Bernal, Steven Sanchez, Timothy Sanchez, Jonathan Sanchez and Clay Butler.
