Juan Manuel "Speedy" Gonzales, age 63, of D'Hanis passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2007. He was born in D'Hanis, April 13, 1944, son of Manuel R. and Gregoria (Ibarra) Gonzales. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was a construction laborer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Gonzales; and sister, Sylvia Goznales. He is survived by sons, George Gonzales, Cesar Gonzales, and daughter, Lorena Gonzales. all of Arizona; and son, Manuel Gonzales of Hondo; and sisters, Rita Gonzales of Floresville and Christina Lopez of Pearsall. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, and Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, both at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Fr. Wallis J. Stiles officiating. The pallbearers were Ricky Gonzales, Mario Gonzales, John Gabriel Gonzales, Marco Gonzales, Jerry Morin, George Gonzales. Interment was at San Francisco Cemetery, D'Hanis.
