Judy Dianne Devine of Hondo, Texas, passed away March 6, 2006, at the age of 55, in San Antonio. She was born December 27, 1950, in D'Hanis, the daughter of Walter & Jesse Maxine (Whitten) Eichholtz. When she was a child the family moved to California where she lived for a large portion of her life. She was baptized and confirmed at Ascension Lutheran Church in Torrence, California. Her family and friends called her by her middle name, Dianne In 1986 she moved to Texas to be closer to her parents who had moved to Hondo to retire. Dianne had an enormous love for animals - so much so that she got a job at Sea World so she could spend her days with the animals. She also would help any stray helpless animal she came across. Sea World was a dream job for her. The birth of her grandson brought a new light to her life. She was very proud of Payton and enjoyed every second she got to spend with him. She was preceded in death by her mother; nephew Christopher Lee Eccles. Diane is survived by her husband Larry Alan Devine of Hondo; daughters Heather Paige Deuel and husband Joseph of Mckinney, Christina Marie Zinn of Abilene; grandson Payton Mayes Zinn of Abilene; brother Walter Eichholtz, Jr and wife Jane of College Station; sister Mary Elaine Eccles and husband Richard of Hondo; father Walter Eichholtz of Hondo. The Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor David Mayer, was at 10:00 a.m. Friday March 10, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hondo.
