Julie Horenburger Tarleton, 84, formerly of Merrimack, New Hampshire, passed peacefully at home into the arms of her Lord and Savior on June 2, 2026 after a long battle with heart disease.
Born July 22, 1941 in Pensacola, Florida, she was the daughter of CAPT (USN, Ret) Carl Horenburger and Eileen Connolly Horenburger. As the daughter of a naval aviator, Julie and her siblings moved several times until her father’s service commitment was complete, settling down in Wantaugh, New York. It was during her high school years that she met the love of her life, John Edward Tarleton. John was two years older than Julie and chose to serve in the United States Navy while waiting for her to complete high school. They were married in 1960 and remained each other’s best friend until John’s death in 2020.
Julie dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a home filled with love and laughter. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her strength, generosity, and unwavering love will never be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her brothers, Fred and Jimmy Horenburger, and son-in-law Christopher Loranger.
Julie is survived by her three children, Deborah Cleary (Patrick), Susan Loranger Colburn (James), and Matthew Tarleton (Kerry). She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Patrick Colburn (Lindsey), Gabrielle Cleary, and Jack Tarleton; great-grandchild, Charlotte Colburn; and sister, Anne Lahr.
