Juventina Vela Correa, age 74, of Hondo entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 26, 2007. She will be deeply missed by her family and many, many friends. She was born in Hondo, Sept. 1, 1932, a daughter of Jose Vela and Angela Rodriguez Vela. Known as "Juve", she was an active member in many areas of the community. She served her Lord as a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, as president of the Guadalupana Society, as a Eucharistic Minister, as a choir and a Crusillista member, as Rosary leader at many funerals, and as a visitor at local nursing homes. She was a participant at La Estrella Daycare and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sylvia Gonzales; and brother, Jesus Vela. Survivors are her husband, Marcelino Correa; son, Roberto Reyes Correa and wife Sylvia of Ohio; daughter, Esmeralda Vela Correa of San Antonio; Seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; brother, Gregorio Vela and wife Nancy; sisters, Connie Ramos and husband Salvador and Anna DeLeon, all of Tedrow, OH, and Mary Toscano of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Carmen Vela of Elkhart, IN; and many friends. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, May 29, and Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Jeff Pehl at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, both at St. John's Catholic Church. The pallbearers were Freddie Gonzales, Michael A. Vela, Fredde Gonzales, Jesse Gonzales, Michael Correa, Michael Garza. Interment will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
