Karl Edward Bishop, 85, of Hondo, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017. Born Jan. 3, 1932, in Newark, OH, he was the son of Clayton and Arie Wilma Long Bishop. Karl was a graduate of Ohio University and later obtained his doctorate degree. He served in the U. S. Air Force and retired as a captain. He spent many years as a professor at Austin Community College teaching business management classes. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Karl Edward Bishop, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eliza Schwartz Bishop; daughter, Patricia "Patti" (Joseph "J.D.") Gonzales of Hondo; son, Andrew "Andy" (Michele) Bishop of Allen; and four grandchildren, Darby and Devin Gonzales and Ben and Emerson Bishop. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 1, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hondo.
