Kathy Whitehead Walbourn of Castroville passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, at the age of 73.

Born in Mathis TX, Jan. 22, 1949, she was the daughter of Swayne L. and Mary Edna Todd Whitehead.

Kathy loved Texas. Her only time living outside the state was four years in Tokyo, Japan, where her husband was stationed.

Her long career as an ICU nurse, included 20 years at Wilford Hall in San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Jeanne Whitehead.

Survivors are her husband of 53 years, Charles "Chuck" Walbourn; sons, Charles L. Walbourn  (Margo) and Todd E. Walbourn (Jason); grandchildren, Chase and Ada Walbourn; step-grandson, Rhys Bergman; siblings, Bill Whitehead (Kathy Gail), Kathy Smith (Barney), Karen Maguire (Walt), David Whitehead (Debbie), Meredith Charbula (Sarah), Robin Kacir (Randy).

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
