In heaven there is no beer but there is a John Deere! When you hear the rumbling of thunder and you look to the heavens above just try to remember that is Kenneth Clifford Adlong Sr. Kenneth was born on December 27, 1941 in Goosecreek, TX. He was the son of George Frank and Albina (Vyoral) Adlong. The Lord called him home on September 17, 2013 to work on his popping "Johnny". On September 5, 1964, he married Katherine "Kathy" Swoboda in Crosby, TX. In 1977, they moved their family to Hondo and later to Quihi. He was a heavy equipment operator by trade but his passion was working on and restoring his John Deeres. He was active in the community as a member of Hondo Garden Club, Medina County Museum board and Quihi Gun Club. He was a charter member of the Hondo chapter of Knights of Columbus and was co-founder of Medina County's Old Iron Trail Ride which supports area children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clarence Adlong. Survivors are his wife; sons, Kenneth C. Adlong Jr. and wife Aj and Kirk Adlong and wife Jennifer; daughter, Kim Adlong and husband Curtis Spiller; grandchildren, Kristina Lewis and husband John, Krista Spiller, K.C. "Kenny" Adlong III, Karley Adlong, Kaitlyn Adlong, Kolby Adlong and Kassie Adlong; great-grandchildren, Makenna Adlong, Kayleigh and Elizabeth Lewis, all of the Hondo area; sister, Lillian Reed of Kenefic, TX; brother, George F. Adlong Jr. and wife Ann of Baytown; and sister, Joyce Prescott and husband Tobe of Crosby. Visitation/wake was Thursday, Sept. 19, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of His Life memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Quihi. Honorary bearers are his grandchildren, Kristina Lewis, Kenny, Kaitlyn, Kolby, Karley, and Kassie Adlong and Krista Spiller.
