Kenneth Wayne Allen of Hondo, 61, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018. Born Oct. 22, 1956, in Jacksonville IL, he was the son of William Hiram and Norma Jane Hoots Allen, who preceded him in death. Kenneth retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 24 years of service. He was a military training instructor. Ken was known for his deep and abiding love for his wife, his skillful craftsmanship which he learned from his father, his sound wisdom gained from his military and life experiences, and his unconventional sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Janice E. Farmer Allen; daughter, Phi-Anh Young, and granddaughter, Brooklynn Young, both of Dayton OH; brothers, Bruce (Kathy) Allen of Whitewright and Kent (Shawn) Allen of Denison; and sister, Becky (Leon) Lay of Whiteboro. It was Ken's wish to be cremated without a memorial service. His family asks that, in lieu of food or flowers, you make a donation in his name to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans or your local VFW.
