Obituary

Kenneth Lee Evans was called home by the Lord on May 15, 2008, at the age of 70. He was born in Kirkwood, MO, Dec. 6, 1937. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Emma (Cheatham) Evans; a sister, Myrtle Minor; and a brother, William Evans. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia of the home; six children, a son, Kenneth Lee Thomas of Houston; five daughters, Donna Marie Holmes, Margaret Steward, Stephanie Byas, Ashley Evans, and Dominic Evans, all of St. Louis; a brother, Benjamin Evans and wife Helen of St. Louis; a sister, Carol Jean Doucette of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Kenneth was reared in the Kirkwood area and attended public school there. He retired in 2002, after working 40 years for the City of Kirkwood municipal department. He was an avid hunter, and one of the founders of his beloved "World Famous Crown Royal Motorcycle Club." Kenneth loved his family and was always thrilled when he discovered a new member of his family tree. Kenneth moved to Yancey in 2003. He and Pat enjoyed raising cattle, horses and traveling. It was here that he invited Christ into his life and united with Emmanuel AME Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral service will be held Saturday at Emmanuel AME Church, 1600 Semlinger, San Antonio. The casket carriers were: Kenneth Thomas, Orlando Richardson, Ricky Jackson, Michael Holmes, Rob Hankins, Bryan Evans. Interment will follow at Yancey Cemetery. Kenny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain; for the former things are passed away. Rev. 21:2 "Goodnight my Love, I'll see you in the morning."
