Kenneth Ray Rummel, 81, of Hondo, Texas passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017. Kenneth was born in San Antonio December 17, 1935, the proud son of Ralph and Bessie Rummel, and brother to Doris and Carol Ann Schitchl. After attending Hebronville High School, he joined the Army. On July 2, 1961, Kenneth married the love of his life, Carolyn Dramberger in San Antonio. They lived in several locations before settling in Hondo, Texas in 1971. Kenneth and Carolyn had seven children, and 21 grandchildren. Kenneth is remembered not only as Daddy, Pop, Grandpa, but as a friend to all. He was a Union Iron Worker and his work became the skyline of San Antonio and many other cities. His passions was family and friend gatherings where he always was the life of the party. He is survived by his daughter Mary Jo Peters and husband Doug of Hondo; son Mike Rummel of Hondo; son Jeff Rummel and wife Lorina; daughter Judy Seals and husband James; daughter Karen Blanchette and husband Adam; daughter Sally Kirk and husband Jody; daughter in law Bobbie Anna Rummel, all of San Antonio; 21 Grandchildren: Kandi Rummel Howell and husband Matt; Stephanie Carlton and husband Casey, Andy Peters, Ryan Rummel and wife Jordan, Derek Peters, Mitchell Rummel, Baxter Seals, Ben Seals, Julia Peters, Jana Peters, Nick Rummel, Victoria Rummel, Victoria Davila, Zachary Seals, Ethan Blanchette, Marissa Rummel, Emma Blanchette, Sarah Kirk, Kaylee Davila, Abigail Blanchette, and Jacob Kirk; great grandchildren: Mason Howell, Chloe Carlton, Brady Howell, Ava Carlton, Natalie Carlton and Grace Rummel. He is also survived by his sisters Doris Claflin and Carol Schitchl and husband Tom, all of Conway, AR; sister-in-law Mary Van Horn and husband Jack of Hondo, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by wife Carolyn Rummel, son John Rummel, parents Ralph and Bessie Rummel, brother Ralph Rummel and brother-in-law Fred Claflin. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 29 5:30-7:30 with Rosary at 6:30 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Hondo TX. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John's. Burial will be at San Fernando #2 cemetery at 3 p.m.
