Kim Tran of Hondo, age 92, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Born Oct. 16, 1925, in Viet Nam, he and his wife came to Hondo to live near their son and his family. He was a cook at the family restaurant, Golden Dragon. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kim Thi Thai; two infant children; and two siblings. He is survived by his sons, Quen Van (Phuong) Tran of Hondo, Em Ty Tran of Oregon, Ty Tran, Ty Van (Hahn My) Tran, and Tai Hong (Ank Phuong) Tran, all of Vietnam; daughters, Hue Thi Tran and Chau Ngoc Tran, both of Hondo, and Lien Ngoc Tran (Trung) Le of Oregon; 11 grandchildren including Jenny and Jammy Tran of Hondo and Nhan Le, Long Le and Khang Le, all of Oregon; and one brother in Viet Nam. Visitation at Guinn-Horger Chapel will be Friday, June 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. On Saturday, June 23, a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Guinn-Horger Chapel. Funeral procession will begin at 2 p.m. with prayer stops in front of the family home and business, arriving at the burial site for prayers at 2:30 p.m. Interment at 3 p.m. will be at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
