Laura Ann Katie (Mumme) Nietenhoefer, age 79, passed away March 29, 2009. She was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Hondo, the daughter of Ernest Louis and Ella Alvina (Helmke) Mumme. She was baptized March 6, 1930, at the home of Uncle Gus Muennink in New Fountain. She was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church and continued as a member until her death. She served the Lord in many ways during her lifetime, singing in the choir, serving on the Altar Guild, working with the Women's group, and serving as a greeter on Sunday mornings. She married Milton Nietenhoefer in 1964. She was a homemaker and she and Milton lived on a farm and had an egg business. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton Nietenhoefer; brothers, Alfred E. Mumme, Milton G. Mumme, and Clinton G. Mumme; and sisters-in-law, Wanda Mumme and Erma Mumme. Survivors are her brother, George Otto Mumme of Quihi; and sisters-in-law, Zella Mae Mumme, Irene Muennink, and Erlene Hickey, all of Hondo; nephews, Allen Mumme and Sherman Mumme; and niece, Linda Roeder. Funeral service was Wednesday, April 1, 2 p.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel with Rev. David Mayer officiating. Bearers were Allen Mumme, Sherman Mumme, Scott Mumme, Lugard Igharo, Richard H. Moos and Cordell Bohlen. Interment was at Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section.
