Lawrence Joseph Carle, age 91, of D'Hanis, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at his home. He was born May 1, 1917, in DHanis, the son of Louis Andrew Jr. and Alma K. (Boog) Carle. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Belle Zerr; and son-in-law, Joe Langfeld. Lawrence was a lifelong rancher and was part-owner of D'Hanis Brick and Tile. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, St. Joseph Society, D'Hanis Lions Club, and Hermann Sons. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Melvira Mary (Rothe) Carle; daughters, Joan Langfeld of D'Hanis, Carolyn Ney of Austin, Sandy McGehee and husband David of D'Hanis, and Terry Schueling and husband Tommy of D'Hanis; and sons, Rothe J. Carle of Hondo and Mike A. Carle and wife Ellen of San Antonio;10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Rosary will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:15 a.m. at Holy Coss Catholic Church. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
