Leighton Edgar "L.E." Monier, age 95, of Tarpley passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, after battling cancer. L.E. was born on July 5, 1912, near Sabinal, the son of Fred John and Mary (Leighton) Monier. He was a lifelong rancher and a descendant of a pioneer Medina County family. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Berniece (Parker) Monier. He is survived by his wife, Apolonia "Paula" (Valdez) Monier; son, Gayle Monier and wife Sue; and grandson, John Leighton Monier. Funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 13, 10 a.m., at the Guinn-Horger Chapel, with Timothy Covert, a minister of Jehovah's Witnesses, officiating. Pallbearers were John Monier, David Kenda, Wade Kenda, David Ross, Walter Blumrich, and Sid Wilkerson. Honorary bearers were Elzie Dean, David Harper, Ben Harper, and Norman Michalec. Interment was at Tarpley Cemetery.
