Lena B Purvis Wilson, age 95, passed away June 11, 2003, at Harvest Communities, Hondo. She was born December 22, 1907, in Comanche County, Texas, to George W. and Maggie Boyd Ewing Purvis. She moved to Waco, Texas, in 1921 to attend Waco High School graduating in 1925. She married H. Clyde Wilson, Sr., June 24, 1925. She lived in Waco until moving to Hondo in 1988. Mrs. Wilson was an active member of the Wesley Methodist Church and, later, St. John's Methodist. Church and a member of the Women's Missionary Society and United Methodist Women, frequently holding offices in these organizations. She joined the First United Methodist Church on moving to Hondo and continued to participate in church activities until moving to Harvest Communities in 2000. The pastors and congregation continued to visit her for the rest of her life. Her early professional life was secretary and bookkeeper for flooring companies. After her retirement she established a second profession dressing dolls and restoring damaged dolls. Her clientele was nationwide.. She was president of the Waco Doll Society for several years. Mrs. Wilson is survived by two sons, Richard Ray Wilson of Hondo and H. Clyde Wilson, Jr. of Columbia, Missouri, eight grand children, 11 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy Mansell of Waco and Helen Carey of Stephenville, and a brother, George Purvis of Waco. She was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson, and three brothers. Pallbearers are her grandchildren, Duane Wilson, Glen Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, David Wilson, Anne Wilson Ferrell, James Wilson, Jason Wilson, and Thomas Wilson. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Hondo. Interment will at the Greenwood Cemetery, in Waco on Monday, June 16, 2003.
