Leora (Boehme) Mangold, age 91, of Hondo passed away Monday, April 28, 2014. Born in Castroville, Jan. 16, 1923, she was the daughter of August Jacob and Millie F. (Haby) Boehme. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was also a great cook. Leora was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lester Allen Boehme; and sister, Wilfreen Saathoff. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Calvin John "C.J." Mangold; sons, Calvin Mangold and wife Sherrie of Rio Medina, Ronnie Mangold and wife Sandy of Mico and Ken Mangold and wife Diane of LaCoste; daughter, Bonnie Mangold of San Antonio; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Helen Boehme and Phyllis Mangold , both of Hondo. Visitation at Guinn-Horger Chapel will be Thursday, May 1, 5 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Graveside service will be at Quihi Cemetery at 10 a.m., Friday, May 2, followed by interment, at Quihi Cemetery.
