Obituary

Lillian Marie Schweers passed into the arms of her Savior on November 24, 2007, at the age of 93 years. She was born February 5, 1914, in Hondo, Texas, to August J. and Mamie Caroline (Richter) Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Horace E. Schweers, and two brothers, Robert Schroeder and Elmer J. Schroeder. Mrs. Schweers was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Hondo since she and Horace married on March 28, 1934. She remained a member until her death. She will be warmly remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother - never too busy to lend a helping hand or to just be there to give moral support. Lillian, the epitome of a wonderful grandmother, loved cooking, sewing and spending time with her family. This was her greatest source of pride and enjoyment. She was especially fond of babies, children, and animals of all kinds. Lillian and Horace owned and operated the Ritz Coffee Shop in Hondo for eight years. Later, she was employed at Universal Rundle Corporation in the clerical department for several years. After her husband's death, Lillian moved to San Antonio to be near her daughter, Beverly and family. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Palmer and husband Jim of San Antonio; her son, Gary Schweers and wife Janis of Sugar Land; four grandchildren, Trey Palmer and wife Christi of Helotes, Renee Cravey and husband Will of Boerne, Brett Schweers and wife Rachel of Chicago, IL, Shannon Vossos and husband Harland of Sugar Land; one great-granddaughter, Jordan Keller Cravey; two great-grandsons, Mitchell Palmer and Justin Vossos; a nephew, Douglas Fuos of Kerrville; two nieces, Carolyn Knott of Nacogdoches and Bobbie Lou Tartt of Garland. The funeral service was Friday, November 30, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Guinn-Horger Funeral Home with pastor Andy Tyson officiating. The casketcarriers were Trey Palmer, Will Cravey, Harlan Vossos, Mitchell Palmer, Brett Schweers, Rex Hopkins. The honorary casketcarrier was Douglas Fuos. Burial followed at the Hondo Cemetery, Oakwood Section. The family wishes to thank the friends and staff at Homewood Assisted Living and Arbors for their kindness and loving care.
